Relaxed Wedding in Umbria
Maija and Morten brought together family and friends from across Northern Europe to celebrate their wedding in the Umbrian countryside, near the small village of Castel Ritaldi.
The celebration took place at a private family villa belonging to Morten’s father, which made the entire day feel particularly personal and intimate despite the many guests. There was no sense of formality or rush — just people enjoying being together, long conversations, laughter and the easy atmosphere of a summer celebration in Italy.
With Maija’s Finnish roots, Morten’s Dutch background and guests arriving from different countries, the wedding felt naturally international while remaining deeply connected to this quiet corner of Umbria.
For us, photographing their wedding was mostly about observing that atmosphere and letting things happen naturally: looking for gestures, relationships and small moments rather than trying to direct the day. The kind of wedding photography we love — spontaneous, understated and centred on the people who make the day what it is.
